Music
Music
Yesterday my class had music with my teacher Mrs Anderson. At music my class learnt different keys like G,D,C and E on the chime bars, glockenspiel ans xylophones. The chime bars is a type of instrument that has metal tuned keys like a glockenspiel. My class was learning how to play a song called "The saints go marching in". Everyone in my class did a really good job on keeping in time with everyone else. We got into groups of two and then four when everyone was in groups of four we had to practise the song together and when we think we were all in time we had to share it with our class. My group was Samantha, Latham, John and me.

Basketball
Basketball
Today for kiwi sports my class learnt new skill about how to play basketball.
Our coach Mike and Millie helped us to learn different skills we can use while playing basketball. There were skills like learning how to cup the ball and move the ball through your legs we also learnt how to dribble but before we learnt the new skills,we first had to warm up we did sprints, relays we ran keeping our knees high to warm up. We learnt how do a pivot and how to learn to be stand while playing. Something new I learnt is that when were sprinting to keep running on the balls of your feet. The most thing I enjoyed about playing basketball is the skill when you cup the ball with your hands and then passing it under your legs and holding with your other hand.

Story Swap - Courtney and Tiare
Surrounded by the dark green trees was an old abandoned house. It looked as if nobody came and cleaned it for many years. I can still hear the rumors about the abandoned house ringing in my ears. As I was staring at the abandoned house I felt like walking towards it. Each step I took up the stairs leading to the house kept creaking under my foot . So when I walked into the house I found a dark staircase heading towards some rooms. I walked up the stairs scared about what might be up there.
When I got upstairs I would see all these doors with no door knobs on them. Some were chipped, some had no paint left on them and one room didn't even have a door. I walked into the first room in front of me and I stared at it for a moment it looked as if dolls were lying all of the bed and there was. I stared at the dolls waiting for something to happen. All of a sudden I heard a loud bang! coming from the closet behind me. I quickly looked over my shoulder but nothing or no one was there.
Once I looked in the closet there was this big doll that I found staring at me in a mysterious way my heart started beating rapidly because I felt unsafe and scared. Once I finished looking at the doll I ran out of the house and went home but when I ran outside it wasn't the same feeling as I felt when I was inside the house for all of a sudden for an unknown reason my body just shut down, by time I woke up it felt like I was sleeping for days, months or even years.
With my partner Tiare, together we wrote a recount about an old abandoned house. We wrote a Story Swap Recount which means that each person writes a sentence each. Something I learnt about writing a recount is that if you read the recount out loud you can hear your mistakes

Problem Solving
Today for maths I created a DLO to show a strategy I used to answer the maths question. The question was (Sajiha read a book with 6003 words in it in 4 weeks. In the first week she read 653 words. In the second week she read 497 words and in the third week she read 1183 words. How many more words did she read in week 4? )To answer this question I first found the total of the numbers, then I added the numbers of words Sajhia read I then used subtraction to find the missing numbers and then I plus the numbers to make sure I had the right answer. |
