Accenture in Auckland City

Today, many of us year 10 students from Tamaki College were given the opportunity to visit a Management consulting company called Accenture in Auckland city. 

At the company, I learned about the variety of jobs that people in IT do and I also experienced coding for the first time. There were at least 5 games that we got to play which all had to do with coding. 

Fortunately, we were all lucky enough to meet Timoti Wharewaka by video calling him and hearing the awesome things he had to say about being a Maori guy and finding a career in IT. Which I thought was interesting since it seemed like IT is a white and foreign-dominated industry. We also talked about how they are trying to encourage Maori And Pacific, people to research and experience more careers in the IT to bring more diversity into the industry. 

But something that I really enjoyed at Accenture is experiencing virtual reality for the first time. 

At the end of the day, I really enjoyed my experience at Accenture and is Thankful to the team at Accenture for introducing us to something new. 

19.6.2018 - Cooking Class

This morning in food tech we had the task to make chocolate muffins. In order to make them correctly, we had to follow the instructions carefully and paid good attention to what we were doing. After mixing all the ingredients together, we put them in the oven for 15 minutes at 180°

The ingredients;

• 1/1/2 cup of self-raising flour
• 1/2 cup of sugar
• 1/2c of oil
• 1/2c of milk
• 1 egg
• 1/4 cocoa
• 1 tsp vanilla essence
• Chocolate chips 

In the end, this is what my group muffins looked like.

Today in Health class we had a discussion about the effects of smoking tobacco and what the main function of our lungs are. The main function of our lungs is for or them to help us breathe in and out and to filter out dust. Naturally, the lungs are meant to filter out dust but when you smoke it's instead of filtering out the chemicals from the tobacco.

15.05.2018: Cooking Class

Today in Cooking, my class had that task to make chocolate muffins. 

We had 50 minutes to make them and 15 minutes for them to cook. 

To make them we needed:

1 1/2 Cups Of Self Rasing Flour 

1/2 Cup Of Sugar

1 Egg

1/3 Cup Of Cocoa

50g Of Chocolate Chips

1/2 Milk

1 Tsp Vanilla Essence

1/2 Of Oil.
After that, we enjoyed our muffins.

 My Answer: In the video its clear that Will is upset with himself and is feeling guilty about what happened to Carlton. He feels guilty because of the fact that Carlton is in a hospital because he had taken pills that belonged to Will. He's upset with himself because he feels like he doesn't deserve the tickets, Uncle Phil was going to give him. So this links to Taha Hinengaro  (Mental&Emotional) because he's expressing his feelings and the need, to be honest with his Uncle. Also, because Carlton had taken the pills this links to Taha Tinana (Physical) because the pills can affect his body. And since this was a family matter this also links to Taha whanau. (Social). 

I think that since Will had said that the pills were given to him and that he had the pills in case he needed it to stay awake while working and to keep himself focused while studying for his tests, I think that this links to Taha Wairua (Spiritual) because Will is still learning new things in life and is trying to find his sense of belonging. 

08.05.2018:Cooking class

Today for our 3rd and fourth period at school. We had a cooking class
We learned how to make hotcakes🥞, The ingredients you need are:
1 1/2 cups of Flour
1/2 Cup of sugar
1 cup of milk
1 egg
Combine them all in a large bowl, Pre-Heat a frying pan, Oil the pan with oil, and fry your hotcake two by two, When you see the bubbles, Flip the hotcake and wait for the other side to cook.
When finished we enjoyed eating them, they were tasty🥞

Abstract artist

Abstract art is a type of art that you cannot recognize when you first look at the panting. A abstract panting is supposed to hide what the panting really is and disguise it with color and shapes. It is known that Abstract art is about exploring different forms of color. 

One famous Abstract artist is a man named Pablo Picasso. One of Pablo famous piece of art work called Guernica, Guernica is a moral sized panting  that Pablo completed in June 1937. It is known that this panting was one the most powerful panting about anti - war in history.
